Quality Prints by Mountain Images |

A Commitment to Quality Print Manufacture |
Mountain Images were the very first and original producers of specialist mountain prints in the United Kindgom. Ian Evans founded Mountain Images and published our first print, Ben Nevis in Winter Raiment, in 1983 and we have continued to develop our products and increase our range ever since. The only difference between our prints in 1983 and those of today is that they are now produced using the very latest giclee print technologies - which means that they are produced individually for each and every customer.
We exercise the same dedication to perfecting excellence in the finished print as our photographers do to creating the oustanding image in the field, particularly when such stunning images merit reproduction to only the highest possible standards. We are proud of our now long-standing reputation for manufacturing superb exclusive high quality mountain prints from the finest materials.

Exclusive really means Exclusive |
We maintain that 'exclusive' really should mean exclusive. It is our view that prints manufactured in bulk and sold through numerous retail outlets cannot, and should not, be termed exclusive. Our superb panoramic and traditional mountain prints are individually and expertly produced on high quality papers; they are sold exclusively and directly to you, our most valued customers, and to no-one else. |

Finest Papers and Latest Print Technologies |
Our prints are individually manufactured using the very latest inkjet (giclee) technologies with the highest quality archival papers and 100-year pigment-based lightfast inks.
Our primary paper is resin-coated, has a very high glossy finish and, weighing in at 260 grams per square metre, has the look and feel of the finest photographic papers produceing the highest quality photographic reproductions. Our framed prints are produced on an Enhanced Matte paper which exhibits a higher colour gamut ideal for images which are to be viewed behind glass and from distance. Canvas Prints are prepared using a Premier Art Water-Resistent Canvas (see below).
Whilst our prints have the look and feel of photographic images produced by traditional methods, they are substantially superior because they exhibit greater highlight and shadow detail and they do not deteriorate over time. |

Prints on Premier Art Water Resistant Canvas |
From Spring 2008 our prints will also be availabe printed on Premier Art Water Resistant Canvas (our Panoramic Prints will be printed to a much larger size than Standard Paper Prints); this media has the look and feel of traditional artists' canvas yet produces the quality of image detail, colour gamut and saturation that is more assocated with photographic prints. Prints supplied on this material will feature a wide unprinted border to provide some working flexibility for customers who wish to have their purchase stretch mounted by a third-party framing specialist.

Original and Accurate Images and Colours - Strictly NO Digital Manipulation |
All our prints are produced from images which are consistent in detail and with the composition and colours that were captured by the photographer in the field. Apart from the removal of minor blemishes, faults or technical imperfections frequently produced during processing of the image in camera or film in development, it is our strict policy NOT to digitally manipulate or enhance images. It is now common practice for landscape photographers to artifically increase the dynamic range of colour displayed in an image to make the scene more striking. This is not the case at Mountain Images. When you buy one of our prints, what you get is an honest and true representation of what the photographer saw on the day !! |
